A job fair is being hosted by a marijuana dispensary in Rockford.

Love Your Job

A couple of years ago, I attended my high school 30th reunion. I went with my group of friends from back in the day.

At one point in the evening, one of my buddies pointed at me and said, I was the only person in our whole bunch of friends that actually uses enjoys their job.

It took a minute for that statement to kick in before I totally understood what he meant. I was sitting at a table full of people that hated their gigs.

They decided to go with the money instead of the heart. Each of them wakes up every morning and dreads going to work.

I did the opposite. Fortunately, I chose a career that I love and I look forward to going into my job. Of course, I am not going to make any "Richest People in Rockford" list but I am okay with that.

Advice

Sometimes I am invited to speak to students about my career and what it is like to work on the radio. I enjoy sharing stories with the kids.

I always start by telling them to find a job that they love because it is no fun going somewhere you hate and doing things you despise. It makes life miserable.

If you love what you do the money will follow. Well, at least to be able to live comfortably.
