
Rockford Man In Custody Following Shooting at Bar
One man is in custody following a Monday night shooting at a Rockford bar.
According to a press release, officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to Gene’s Place Bar in the 4400 block of Manchester in reference to a shooting investigation. When they arrived, officers learned that a 28-year-old male victim had been involved in a physical confrontation with the suspect.
During the confrontation victim was shot once in the abdomen. He was transported to the hospital and is being treated for non-life threatening injures. The name of the victim is not yet being released.
Following an investigation, 40-year-old Blayne F. Higgins of Rockford was arrested and charged with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm. He being held in the Winnebago County Jail in lieu of bail.
