Rep. Pete Sessions: Without TPA, Good Trade Agreements Are Not Possible [AUDIO]
Riley and I were excited to welcome back Congressman Pete Sessions of Texas to the show this week. He also serves as part of the leadership team in the House as Rules Committee Chairman.
We struck up a friendship with the Congressman while he was Chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee and in the midst of helping to engineer the big GOP wave election of 2010. A part of that effort was in Illinois’ 17th Congressional District, where Bobby Schilling would go on to victory. We checked in on the status of the race from time-to-time and just haven’t stopped talking since.
This time Sessions joined us just a few weeks after we talked in his office while we were visiting Washington, D.C. At the top of the agenda was the TPA/Fast Track legislation. Many on the far left of the Democrat party and even some on the right are not fans of the legislation. But Sessions is a big supporter and was clear in saying this would not expand the executive power of the President in any way.
Here's the full conversation with Rep. Sessions, in which we also talked free trade, relations with Iran, and more:
