As the budget showdown continues in Springfield, Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner told us he is prepared to fight for his reforms and will not back down in his mission to shrink wasteful government spending.

Rauner joined "Riley & Scot" this morning on the show and said Illinois taxpayers simply aren't getting value for their money. He outlined what items he's asking the House and Senate to pass before considering any new revenue requests from residents.

Rauner made clear he has taken some things off the table for now, but both House Speaker Mike Madigan and Senate President John Cullerton have thus far shown no interest in reform or compromise. In fact, he says Speaker Madigan is most concerned with protecting the political class, not working for the middle class.
