Gov. Pat Quinn is making another push to build a third airport in the Chicago area.

A sign at the state-owned Bult Field in Will County now includes the words “the future site of the South Suburban Airport.”  Gov. Pat Quinn says that’s part of the latest drive to get the long talked about airport off the ground:

“Our state has bought this airport, but now we’re also interested in developing the airport,” Quinn said.  “We’re issuing what’s called a request for information out to those who would develop the airport in partnership with the Illinois Department of Transportation.”

Quinn says interested developers, air carriers, and tenants will meet in a forum on September 23.  While Quinn emphasizes that the project is moving along, he’s shying away from giving any firm estimate on when construction could begin.
