You've probably seen someone riding a Segway PT at one time or another. If you're not familiar, the Segway, according to Wikipedia:

Is a two-wheeled, self-balancing, battery-powered electric vehicle invented by Dean Kamen. It is produced by Segway Inc. of New Hampshire. The name Segway is derived from the word segue, meaning smooth transition. PT is an abbreviation for personal transporter.

When Segways were first introduced, they were supposed to be a game-changer. Easy to use, even easier to ride, nearly impossible to fall off of one...blah, blah, blah. It was predicted that nearly everyone would have one, forever altering the way we went from Point A to Point B.

Fast forward to now, and you'll notice they're not exactly everywhere. Sure, there are certain places you can rent one for a tour, some theme parks offer them, and law enforcement in some cities uses them for patrols (yes, I am leaving out Paul Blart, Mall Cop). Not exactly "everywhere you look."

Which brings us to the video below. The Rexburg, Idaho Police Department recently began training officers on using a Segway for patrols.

From UPI:

An Idaho police department shared video of officers being foiled by a menace they once believed to be an ally -- a Segway scooter.

The video, shared on YouTube by East Idaho News, features Rexburg Police Chief Shane Turman quickly giving up on steering the Segway at police headquarters and hopping off after striking a chair.

"Okay. There's gonna have to be a little training," Turman says with a laugh.

Take a look at "Segway Training":

According to a follow-up with the sheriff, they only injuries were to their pride, and everyone has since learned to operate the Segway properly.

These folks obviously did not learn to use their Segways properly:
