People From Rockford Who Have Won Oscars
The Academy Awards were held last night in Hollywood. While I watched I wondered if anyone from Rockford won an Oscar.
You know what? Some Rockford born people have won Oscars, not nearly as many I thought, before I set out on my search.
I consulted IMDB's Most Popular People in Rockford list and looked through each and every profile.
I came up with some interesting stuff. Rockford born actor Stephen Wallem shared a SAG award with the rest of the cast for Nurse Jackie in 2013.
That's cool to hear but not "Oscar cool."
What about Rockfordians who have won Oscars?
Orville Hampton was nominated for an Oscar in 1965 for Best Writing, Story and Screenplay for One Potato, Two Potato but lost.
Getting warmer, how about some winners? Sadly, after all my research I only found two.
John W. Burton won an Oscar in 1959 in the Best Short Subject, Cartoons category for Knighty Knight Bugs.
The other Rockford born Academy Award winner won in 2012 for Undefeated. Dan Lindsay scored the Oscar for Best Documentary, Features and shared the award with T.J. Martin and Rich Middlemas.
According to the Rockford Register Star, Lindsay graduated from Rockford Boylan in 1997.
