One of America’s Best Food Challenges is in Illinois
Inspired by Joey Chestnut's incredible feat this past weekend, I decided to find some of the greatest food challenges in America.
In case you missed it, Chestnut took down 63 hot dogs and wiped out a protester all while on crutches at the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest over the weekend.
So while you won't have to worry about protests, and competing against the "World's Best Eater," you can still get in on some food challenges.
Namely, the one that was just called the very best food challenge in Illinois, on Cheapism's 25 Belly-Busting Food Challenges That Offer Winners a Free Meal.
Now you don't have to eat competitively to win Illinois' top food challenge, but it might be a good idea to show up on an empty stomach.
The Lucky's Challenge might sound simple, but it's no easy feat. Come to Lucky's Sandwich Co. with a big appetite and you'll get one hour to devour three sandwiches that cost $12-$14 each if you can't finish them. To make the deal more enticing (or palatable), Lucky's allows contestant to choose a different meat — from eight choices — for each sandwich.
The eight types of meat are:
- Roast Beef
- Capicola
- Cajun Chicken
- Salami Pastrami
- Smoked Turkey
- The Fredo
- Corned Beef
- Ham
Besides the free meal, the winner receives a Lucky's t-shirt and their photo placed on Lucky's Wall of Fame.
Sounds like I know where I'm going next time I'm in The Windy City. Lucky's Sandwich Co. is located at 3472 North Clark Street in Chicago.
