One person is hospitalized with serious injuries following a car vs. motorcycle crash on Rockford's far east side.

According to a press release, members of the Rockford Police and Fire Departments responded to the incident early this morning at the intersection of Perryville Road and Crimson Ridge Drive. An initial investigation revealed that both the motorcycle and the vehicle were traveling south on Perryville when the car struck the rear of the bike.

The motorcyclist was thrown from the motorcycle as a result of the crash. Officials say 41-year-old Elzajat Jakupi of Rockford was taken to a  hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the car has been identified as 33-year-old Nicole Reynolds of Poplar Grove. She was not injured, but has been charged with Aggravated Driving Under the Influence Involving Serious Injuries and Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident. Reynoldse being held in the Winnebago County Jail in lieu of bond.
