One man is dead and another is injured after a Wednesday night shooting in Rockford.

According to a press release, police responded to the 600 block of S. 3rd St. in reference to a report of gunshots and a possible shooting victim. Upon arrival, officers located a number of homes and vehicles that had been struck by gunfire but found no victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

While on scene, two gunshot victims arrived at two area hospitals. One of the victims, a 27-year-old Rockford man, had two non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to his back. Emergency room staff pronounced the other victim, a Rockford man, dead at the hospital.

The fatality victim has been identified as 21-year-old Raymon Randle.
