I don't want to spoil the ending of this video but it doesn't end well for the car.

I totally get why Metra did this. It's Rail Safety Week. Cars trying to beat a train across the tracks has been a problem for a while. I used to take the Metra every day for five years, I would wager to say that we were delayed about once every 6 weeks by a car being struck on the tracks. It's unfortunate and it's great that Metra is raising awareness.

BUT....

That video is kind of funny. What do people think is going to happen? Trains have had an undefeated record ever since they were invented. Also, why only do it at 30 MPH? You say in the video that the trains can get up to 79, let's get the most bang for our buck. It's been a few years since I was in a physics class but I'm pretty sure P=MV. That's momentum equals mass times velocity. Twice the velocity means twice the momentum which I'm pretty sure equals a much cooler wreck.

Bottom line here folks is, don't mess with trains. You will lose and more importantly, you will ruin the commute for hundreds of people. Stay safe out there.
