Around our house, we had a rule when the kids were younger: don't say you hate any food that you've never tried. If you do, you'll have to try it. As a matter of fact, we'll probably make you try all kinds of things anyway.

Now, to be fair, we did not make our kids continue to eat things that they had tried and despised (unlike my parents).

But come on, asking a kid to eat snails? Really? What's the best-case scenario here? They love escargot with all their little heart and soul? They begin to demand escargot on a weekly basis? You might want to think about introducing them to something a bit less expensive, because after escargot, what's next? Lobster? Caviar?
