Here's an opportunity for one worthy high school senior to make college just a bit more affordable.

The Junior League of Rockford is accepting applications for the organization's 2015 Outstanding Volunteer Community Service Scholarship. One $1,000 scholarship will be handed out to an outstanding female high school senior who has shown exceptional volunteer spirit. Officials say that's defined by the applicant's willingness to have freely worked to aid and benefit others in the greater Rockford area during her high school career.

Applications are available at the Junior League's website or through school counseling offices. Completed forms must be received by Tuesday, March 31st, 2015 at the following address:
