If you travel Highway 41 near Lynch Road, you have probably noticed the old Clarion Inn is being torn down. This has been quite an undertaking but unfortunately has to be done.

Remember The Holiday Inn?

Before it was The Clarion Inn this massive hotel on Highway 41 was the Holiday Inn. It was home to hundreds of parties, receptions, and New Year's Eve celebrations. This photo from Google Maps in 2009 gives you an idea of what it used to look like.

Sometime between 2009 and 2011 the hotel changed hands and became The Clarion Inn. It was still a very busy spot for travelers and locals. Their breakfast buffet was legendary.

Then by July 2015, the sign was covered and The Clarion Inn went dark.

Since then, the hotel has deteriorated and has become an eyesore. The property was purchased in March of 2022, but no work had been done until recently.

Here is a look at the south side of the hotel facing Lynch Road.

You can practically smell the chlorine in the fresh pool. It's really sad to see what it looks like after years of being empty.
