Is a New McDonald’s Coming to Rockford’s West Side?

If you were hoping for a McDonald's on the west side of Rockford, you might be getting your wish. A permit has been filed for 4103 West State Street, the spot where Davita Dialysis is at right now. If this does happen, it will become a brand-new drive-thru location for McDonald's.

Permit Filed for New McDonald’s Location

The filing was done by a group called Permit Solutions. it's unclear who they are, but apparently, they were working on behalf of McDonald's, so it seems far from just a rumor, more like a plan already in motion. If you live near where the proposed new McDonald's location will go in, you are already aware that the closest Golden Arches is a couple of miles away at Auburn Street.

How Close Is the Nearest McDonald’s?

While it's just a few miles away, when the craving hits for some of those McDonald's fries and a Coke, it could feel like a cross-country road trip. Having a McDonald's on West State Street would definitely make life easier for anyone on that side of the city.

What Happens Next in Rockford’s Approval Process

Here's what's going to happen next: The Rockford Zoning Board of Appeals is going to take a good look at the request on September 16. That's when we'll know for sure if McDonald's on West State Street is a go or if folks will have to continue making the trek to Auburn Street for a while longer.

Why This Location Matters for West Rockford Residents

That said, if the plan does come to fruition, the west side of Rockford could have another option for late-night fries, burgers, chicken sandwiches, and whatever secret-menu creations people can come up with (ask for the Land Sea Air). Will this end up as the busiest McDonald's in Rockford?
