Two of America's most hated tourist traps are right here in Illinois, and locals say they're over it.

Globe Grazers called out 15 tourist traps in America that locals dislike so much they wish they or those specific sights would go elsewhere. I'm saying that, for the most part, we are over having these attractions in our state, and we would love for people to stop caring about them.

Illinois Tops the List With Two Nationally Hated Attractions

Of the fifteen different "traps," two are in Illinois, making it the state with the most of those in America. Obvious tourist hotspots made the list, like:

  • Times Square in New York City
  • Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco
  • Bourbon Street in New Orleans
  • Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles

If you thought the Willis Tower was the de facto tourist trap in Illinois, think again, as it didn't even make the list, but if you were thinking somewhere close to or even on Lake Michigan, you'd be right.

Why Navy Pier Ranks Among the Worst Tourist Traps

That's because Navy Pier, a family-friendly but still kind of tourist destination, was among the top "tourist traps" in all of America.

Navy Pier might have a Ferris wheel and boat tours, but that’s about where the charm ends.

Ouch. Navy Pier is a big deal for visitors, but if you've lived in Chicago at any point in your life, it's usually an afterthought. While it might be harsh, I'd rather take Navy Pier any day of the week before what has to be the biggest tourist trap on the planet, The Bean.

Is there anything more useless than The Bean? Go there, take a picture, and be on your way. That's all there is to do, and I'm not even kidding.

Locals Sound Off: Why Do Tourists Love The Bean?

Locals find it hard to understand why people line up just to take the same selfie as everyone else. It’s surrounded by crowds almost all the time, making it tricky even to get a good look.

Do you think The Bean isn't a waste of space? Prove me wrong.
