Tornado Watch has been issued until 10 pm for Winnebago, Boone, De Kalb, La Salle, Lee, and Ogle Counties. 

A Tornado Watch has been issued in northwestern Illinois. South central Jo Daviess County is under a Tornado Watch until 8 pm on Tuesday, April 16.

Severe weather including damaging hail and a potential for tornadoes will affect weather in Rockford by 6 pm on Tuesday (4/16) according to the latest radar from the Weather Channel.

Stormchasers have been providing live video of tornadoes in Iowa that are now heading into Illinois.

Weather forecasts predict dangerous storms in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin on Tuesday evening (4/16).

According to the latest Weather Channel forecast, "dangerous severe weather" is beginning to take shape across the Plains and will move into northern Illinois on Tuesday with a chance of hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes.

What Areas Are at the Highest Risk for Supercell Storms

Parts of southern Iowa and central Illinois are in the "likely" zone for severe weather that may continue into Tuesday night. At the same time, Rockford and Chicago are shaded "possible" for damaging storms.

April Has Already Been an Active Weather Month

According to the Weather Channel, there have been over 90 tornadoes recorded since the beginning of April, and in the first 11 days of the month, there were more than 900 severe weather reports.

The second half of April could start with dangerous storms that will begin midday on Tuesday (4/16).

Chilly April Days Coming After Severe Weather

The latest forecast from the National Weather Service is showing severe thunderstorms developing in the Rockford region after 4 pm on Tuesday, and then strong storms with the potential for damaging hail and tornadoes possible overnight into Wednesday (4/17).

After an expected high near 70 on Tuesday, it's expected to be around 67 on Wednesday before dropping to a high around 60 on Thursday (4/18).

The high temperatures this upcoming weekend are expected to be in the middle 50s on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Rockford Will Get May Flowers if These April Showers Keep Coming

Tuesday (4/16) there's a 100 percent chance of rain, on Wednesday there's a 40 percent chance, and then another 80 percent chance of rain on Thursday (4/18).

The extended forecast for the Rockford area from the Weather Channel shows at least a 30 percent chance of rain every day from April 24 to 29.
