Northern Illinois Town Named One Of America’s “Most Christmassy”
Illinois may have its share of problems that need to be addressed, but our commitment to decorating, celebrating, and fully embracing the holiday season here in Northern Illinois is definitely not one of those problems.
In the interests of fairness, I should point out that two Northern Illinois towns make the list of most Christmassy places in the United States, not just one. I'm pretty sure that even more Illinois towns could be added to the list, but for now we're going to focus on the one Northern Illinois town that made the Top 50 list.
When It Comes To Picturesque Cities And Towns In Illinois, We've Got Plenty, But Most People Think Of Galena First
These towns, with their rich traditions, embody the essence of the holiday season, making them popular destinations for families and holiday enthusiasts.
To help you decide how your family can get into the festive spirit this year, we conducted an extensive survey of 3,000 families to discover just which of these popular festive destinations families would most like to visit this season to spark that Christmas joy.
Here in Northern Illinois, that honor goes to the town that a former president once called home.
Galena Is Well Worth Visiting At Anytime Of The Year, But When The Holidays Roll Around, It Becomes Pretty Magical
Before we get to Mixbook.com's ranking of Galena, here are the towns that they name as the top ten most Christmassy in the entire country.
- Pigeon Forge, Tennessee
- Durango, Colorado
- Lake Placid, New York
- Stowe, Vermont
- Alexandria, Virginia
- Old Saybrook, Connecticut
- Stockbridge, Massachusetts
- Holland, Michigan
- Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
- North Pole, Alaska
Although Naperville Does Make The Mixbook List, They Rank At #58 Overall While Galena Comes In At Number 49
Galena in northwest Illinois cracks the top 50 due, in part, to the town’s preserved history, draped with holiday lights and decorations. The town’s Main Street is also known for holiday shopping. The “Night of the Luminaria” is also one of the town’s most Christmas-hyped events.
