Illinois State Police Announce New Recruit Incentive

In a move aimed to attract top-tier talent, the Illinois State Police have announced a significant increase in the starting salary for new recruits, soaring to just over $90,000 annually.

Illinois State Police Director Brendan F. Kelly said in a recent press release;

ISP holds its officers to the highest standards and the compensation must reflect the value we place on the sacred work they do.

The agency hopes this proactive step will help ease the challenges of recruitment and retention faced by law enforcement agencies nationwide.

Illinois State Police Trooper Requirements

All interested Illinois State Police Trooper applicants must be at least 21 years old, (20 if they have received appropriate associate's degree or completed 60 hours at a university), and meet these three basic requirements:

• Have never been convicted of a felony
• Must have a valid drivers license
• Be willing to accept an assignment anywhere in Illinois
