WHAT?!? Experts Say a 3.6 Magnitude Earthquake Hit Illinois Early Wednesday Morning
Today I learned that earthquakes happening in Illinois are not as unusual as I thought they were, and I don't think I'm okay with that.
Did You Feel the Earth Move in Illinois This Morning?
First off, if you live in the Rockford area, the answer to the question above is likely no but, not all people in Illinois can say the same.
According to Fox 32 Chicago, the U.S. Geological Survey has confirmed that a 3.6 magnitude earthquake happened near Standard, Illinois in Putnam county around 4:40 this morning. The rumble may have been minor when it comes to earthquake standards, but it was felt in some of the West Chicago suburbs, and even parts of DeKalb, Illinois too.
Shocking Earthquake Facts
I want to thank my partner, Sweet Lenny, for telling me this morning that nearly every day several earthquakes happen all over the World. (Yes, I am being sarcastic, that earthquake fact is a bit terrifying to me!)
Lenny tried to soften the blow by saying these quakes are just the Earth settling, kind of like your house does, but I do not feel any comfort knowing that. It also didn't help that he sent me this link that proves over 30 earthquakes with magnitudes 2.5 or above happened all across the World on November 15, 2023.
Not. Cool.
