Animal Abuse Reported At Rodeo in Boone County, Illinois

There's been some big trouble stirring up in Boone County, Illinois. People are saying that the county is knowingly letting animals abuse its area.

Two animal welfare-focused groups are concerned enough about this to it to court.

The problem is that the county gives permission for La Charreada, which is like Mexican rodeos, to happen.

These groups are saying that the county is doing it the wrong way. The rules say that these events shouldn't hurt animals, but it looks like that's exactly what's happening.

At these rodeos, animals like horses and steers are getting hurt and blatantly abused.

Sometimes the animals' legs, horns, and backs get broken, and even their tails get ripped off. It's just really mean and painful for the animals, according to FOX 32.

The drone video from Boone County is even more disturbing, showing animals being jabbed repeatedly with electric prods.

The rules in Boone County are supposed to keep animals safe during these events. However, the groups are saying that the county is not doing a good job of making sure the rules are followed.

They think the county is allowing rodeos that hurt animals, even though they're not supposed to.

One really bad thing that happens is called "tailing." In this event, riders grab onto a steer's tail and hurt their horses so they get close to the steer.

This makes the steer fall down really hard, which hurts a lot. It's unfair to the animals and downright barbaric.

The groups, Humane Farming Association (HFA) and Showing Animals Respect and Kindness (SHARK), want the county to stop giving permission for these events that hurt animals.

They're using the court to make the county pay attention and do things the right way to protect animals.

This situation shows how important it is to be kind to animals and not hurt them.

The groups are trying really hard to help these animals and make sure they don't suffer during rodeos anymore.
