A convenience store in Illinois got cleaned out by thieves for over $10,000 worth of merchandise.

Theft Has Become A Big Problem In Illinois

There is a huge problem with crime all over the state of Illinois. One of the primary offenses that keep climbing is theft.  I hear and read about it more and more every day. It's not just little things. Thieves are hitting victims hard. Much of it is old school style by just breaking into a business or home and taking stuff. Plus nowadays, criminals are pretty much fearless.

Thousands Of Dollars Of Merchandise Were Stolen From Illinois Liquor Store

The robbery took place in Downers Grove. It occurred sometime after the liquor store closed on Thursday night and before the place reopened on Friday morning. The thief or thieves busted through a door and started unloading as much merchandise as they could in a short amount of time.

The laundry list of lost products is pretty impressive. It includes several bottles of booze, vapes, cartons of cigarettes, packs of smokes, and cash. The estimated total amount value of the stolen merchandise is just under $11,000.

  • $400 cash
  • 40 cartons of cigarettes
  • 132 packs of cigarettes
  • 15 ten-packs of tobacco vape pens
  • 39 bottles of alcohol
  • In total, the loss was valued at $10,921.82.

I do have a couple of questions about this whole incident. What are the thieves going to do with all this stolen liquor and cigarettes? It's not like it's the movie, "Goodfellas," where they can sell the stuff on the Black Market. Is it for personal use? Hopefully, the police will track down these criminals quickly.
