Rockford Murder Suspect Indicted On 25 Counts By Grand Jury
Wednesday, March 27th, 2024 was an incredibly tragic day in Rockford, Illinois after four people were killed and several others wounded after a series of stabbings.
The victims who lost their lives from these attacks were identified as Jenna Newcomb (15), Jay Larson (49), Ramona Schupbach (63), and Jacob Schupbach (22).
The two who survived are Lindsay Craig and Keith Fahrey. They were both recognized and honored as Hometown Heros at a recent Rockford IceHogs game, as well.

Keith was driving when he saw Lindsay being attacked and saved her life by stepping in. After the murder suspect, Soto, was arrested, he was charged with multiple accounts of first-degree murder and attempt of first-degree murder and home invasion with a dangerous weapon.
Now, a Winnebago Grand Jury has indicted him with the following:
- 8 counts of First Degree Murder
- 7 counts of aggravated battery
- 7 counts of Attempted First Degree Murder
- 3 counts of Home Invasion
To determine whether Soto is mentally fit to handle trial, his attorney asked that he does a psychiatric exam. The judge granted the request.

If you're wondering the reason behind the attacks, he said he went to smoke at Jacob Schupbach's house and was under the impression the cannabis was laced - that's what led to the stabbing spree. You can read more about that here.
