The two who survived are Lindsay Craig and Keith Fahrey.  They were both recognized and honored as Hometown Heros at a recent Rockford IceHogs game, as well.

"Tonight we had the honor of recognizing two of our community members, Keith Fahrney and Lindsay Craig, who were victims in the recent stabbings here in Rockford. Keith was driving when he saw Lindsay being attacked and saved her life by stepping in. We can’t thank you enough for your bravery and kindness, and we are thrilled to be able to honor you as our Hometown Heroes" [IceHogs]

After the murder suspect, Soto, was arrested, he was charged with multiple accounts of first-degree murder and attempt of first-degree murder and home invasion with a dangerous weapon.

Now, a Winnebago Grand Jury has indicted him with the following:

  • 8 counts of First Degree Murder
  • 7 counts of aggravated battery
  • 7 counts of Attempted First Degree Murder
  • 3 counts of Home Invasion

To determine whether Soto is mentally fit to handle trial, his attorney asked that he does a psychiatric exam.  The judge granted the request.
