Labor Day weekend is rapidly approaching and you just can't spend another few days at home, right?

If you haven't done anything or gone anywhere this summer, there's an excellent chance you may feel that way.

I've been to a few different spots this season but I still feel like I could go on a little trip myself.

So while I was checking out Travel Curator's list of Coolest Retro Hotels in the US, hoping to find a place in Illinois, I was bummed that we were left off the list.

I then decided to take it into my own hands to find the most hip old-school hotel in the Land of Lincoln.

For that, I hopped on TripAdvisor and did a little research. According to myself, this is the coolest retro hotel in Illinois.

It's called Viceroy Chicago and it's more than just old-school cool.

TripAdvisor:

Viceroy Chicago, located in the exclusive Gold Coast neighborhood, marks Viceroy's first destination in the Windy City. Located at the site of the 1920s-era Cedar Hotel, among historic mansions and just steps to the Magnificent Mile and Lake Michigan, Viceroy Chicago offers a locally-inspired luxury experience with 180 guestrooms and suites.

Annie B. called Viceroy's "attention to detail was the standout" and Tom D. called his time there "spectacular" while Kristi G. say the staff will "go out of their way to make your stay special."

With as many favorable and glowing reviews you've got to have a feeling that the price tag is hefty.

Well, bring your wallet because staying at Viceroy Chicago will not be cheap.

Overnights start at $500 and can go all the way up to $875 for a suite with a lake view.

It's gorgeous and if you can afford it, sounds totally worth the dough. Take a look inside the rooms below.

Ummm, can anyone explain why these toys are tethered to an abandoned motel south of Rockford???
