Do you think that you can guess which Indiana city was named the second safest city in America for 2024?

When you think of Indiana overall, you don't really associate it with crime. Sure, criminal acts happen all of the time, but that's not typically the stereotype that goes with Indiana. I mean Indiana isn't even one of the top ten most dangerous states in the country. That being said, we still see so much on the news about crime, and the increasing amounts of criminal activity across the state. It makes you stop and take a look at your area and wonder how safe it actually is. Well, as it turns out, if you live in one Indiana city, you are in luck when it comes to safety because it's the second safest city in the entire country.

Indiana City Named Second Safest City in America for 2024

The website, MoneyGeek, recently ranked the safest cities in America for 2024. How did they do that? Well, according to the website:

MoneyGeek’s annual analysis looks at the most recent crime statistics from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to estimate the cost of crime in 302 cities with populations greater than 100,000 across the United States. The analysis pairs reported crime statistics with academic research on the societal costs of different types of crimes to estimate the cost of crime for each city.

The safest city in America for 2024 is Thousand Oaks, California. However, right behind that city on the list is Fishers, Indiana. That's right, Fishers is the second safest city in the entire country. Exciting and comforting news for residents of the city. The main data point used in the research is crime cost per capita. Fishers had a cost of $296.

However, that wasn't the only Indiana city to make the list. Carmel also rounded out the top 10 list for safest cities in America, with a crime cost per capita of $405. You can learn more about the safest and even the most dangerous cities in America for 2024 by clicking here.
