12 Things You Absolutely Can’t Mail in Illinois No Matter What

I am the son of a postal worker who delivered mail in the Missouri and Illinois area for the better part of 30 years. That makes me an unofficial expert of sorts about what you can and can't mail. There are 10 very specific types of things you can't mail in Illinois no matter what.

Full disclosure: Yes, I am the son of a postal worker, but am an expert at pretty much nothing. I am a good researcher though and these 12 items will get you in hot water if you try and mail them.

I have yet to go into an Illinois post office where the window clerk wasn't glad to answer any questions I had. That's my recommendation if you have any serious questions about whether or not something is OK to mail.

There are some relatively new technologies that you should be aware of that also have some mail restrictions. For example, anything with a lithium-ion battery must have a label on the outside visible to the carriers showing whatever you're mailing has one included.
