We know there is a once-in-a-lifetime cicada event that will engulf the Land of Lincoln later this year, what can be done to prevent them from overtaking your yard? Experts, apparently, have a solution, here are the details...

According to an article from NBC Chicago, you won't be able to avoid the cicada hoards entirely here in Illinois but you can limit them from overtaking your yard. Will you give this a try?

I will say that if you have a ton of bushes by your door or near an area where you will be spending a lot of time, then I would absolutely try this. There is no point in wrapping every bush, but if you can keep them from building a nest in the bush next to the door so you can avoid them flying into your face, or prevent them from building a nest in the bush next to your bedroom window so they can't wake you up in the morning, it's worth a try. I can't wait to see the pictures of the swarms of cicadas in the parts of central Illinois where the two broods are immerging at the same time, it hasn't happened since the early 1800s and won't happen again for another 200 years, it truly is a once in a lifetime event.
