Vegetables Sold in Missouri & Illinois Stores Under Urgent Recall
If you've purchased frozen vegetables from a grocery store in Missouri or Illinois recently, time to check the freezer as there is now an urgent recall due to possible listeria contamination.
The Food and Drug Administration issued an urgent recall on a select number of vegetables that were sold in Kroger stores in both Missouri and Illinois. The vegetables originated from Baker Farms, but are sold under the Kroger brand. It's collard greens that have a label that looks like this.
Look for this expiration date on the back of the package.
The FDA mentioned why listeria contamination is so dangerous:
Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
No one has been reported any illnesses connected with these Kroger collard greens as of this writing and hopefully this voluntary recall will keep it that way.
