Missouri’s Most Mispronounced Place Once Hit By a Mammoth Meteor?

There is one Missouri town that has been hit by a double whammy. It's known as being one of the most mispronounced cities in America and it was also slammed into by a mammoth meteor. Can this Missouri place catch a break?

I have admitted my own difficulty (along with many others) of trying to pronounce Auxvasse correctly. That is NOT the most mispronounced town in Missouri though. According to USA Today, that honor goes to tiny Weaubleau, Missouri which might be bigger had it not been hit by a meteor, but more on that in a little bit.

How is Weaubleau, Missouri pronounced? They say it's "pronounced "WAH-bloh". Apparently, it's called "we blow" often so feel free to insert your own joke here.

Now, what about that huge meteor that almost obliterated it?

Crater Explorer shows that recently it was discovered that little ole Weaubleau, Missouri is the site of a huge crater. That means space rock went kaboom there many millennia ago.

It's not as visible as Meteor Crater in Arizona. If you drive through this tiny Missouri place, it looks like any other rural Missouri town.

Just know that the most mispronounced town in Missouri (not "we blow" btw) also has some meteor history underneath it and/or nearby. Not many towns in America can say both of those things.
