Chicago is a growing location for breweries. So far there are over 200 Chocago local breweries and more and more pop up yearly. So, it's not surprising that the city makes USA Today's List of the Top 10 Best Beer City. The city has some big-time breweries including Goose Island and the newer ones that are popping up are from alumni from Goose Ialns. Such as Off Color Brewing and Penrose Brewing Company.

Thanks to its central location and large population of beer enthusiasts, Chicago offers one of the country’s most comprehensive beer scenes. The Windy City is home to a huge number of breweries (nearing 200), several of which were started by alumni of Goose Island, the brewery that essentially kicked off Chicago’s craft beer craze.

The craze is everywhere and we are lucky enough to have some of the best right here ins Quincy (Quincy Brewing Company) and soon Hannibal (Friendship Brewing Company). You don't have to travel far to get some of the best brews in the Tri-States. However, if you do happen to travel a lot you might want to take in some of the local breweries popping up more and more. You might find that one flavor or hot spot that you keep going back to.

LOOK: Best Beers From Every State

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery. Keep reading to find out what the best beer is in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.
