Is Alton the Most Haunted Town in Illinois?

According to Google, we're only about 4 hours away from the most ghost-ridden community in Illinois.

279.5 miles (or 4 hours and 19 minutes) from Rockford, and just north of St. Louis, you'll find the river town of Alton, home to around 27,000 people, and countless ghosts, specters, and things that go bump in the night.

In addition to being "Ghost Central" for Illinois, Alton also holds the distinction of being the home town of the World's Tallest Man (for whom there is irrefutable evidence), Robert Wadlow. Wadlow, who was still growing at the time of his death in 1940, was measured a few weeks before his death at 8 feet 11.1 inches tall. He weighed in at 490 pounds.
