Many of us know someone who has a good ghost story, or an alien sighting story... Maybe you even have your own. A new study has put together the numbers and has found the states you are most likely to have a supernatural sighting or experience.

It looks like Illinois has had a solid number of sightings, it's even in the top 10 for sightings in all states. So hey, if you love these myths and legends you may want to move to one of these top tens.

The Numbers

It looks like Illinois has a solid number of strange sightings every year, and actually ranks 8th overall for supernatural sightings. Illinois has a reported 4,025 UFO sightings a year. When it comes to ghosts, they come in at 2,529.

I'm still surprised there are more sightings of the supernatural in Illinois than in Iowa, I feel like everyone here has a ghost story, but sadly (or maybe thankfully) Iowa ranks 29th for supernatural sightings.

Top Supernatural sightings

The states with the most supernatural sightings are as follow.

Arizona

It seems like you have a higher chance of being taken by aliens, or possessed by a ghost in these states, so if you want to stay safer, here are the states with the least amount of sightings.

(50) Delaware

It seems like larger populations play a role in these results, I feel like aliens are way more likely to be in South/ North Dakota, but hey that's just me.

Final Numbers

It looks like California, and Texas are the two spots you are most likely to have an encounter of the 3rd kind, while Delaware and Wyoming are the quietest. Here are these 4 states' numbers.

Texas: UFO sightings 5,631; Ghost Sightings 7,382
