The 2022 version of The University of Iowa football team is objectively atrocious and Big Ten fans from all over are getting pretty creative with their mockery.

A little back story.

The University of Iowa football coach is Kirk Ferentz. Kirk Ferentz has been at Iowa for a long time, since 1999 to be specific. His record over those years is 171-111, not bad, but not great. And honestly that is how you could usually describe the Iowa team during his tenure, not bad, but never great.

Personally, as a fan of the University of Illinois, I would gladly swap the past 20 years of college football with any Hawkeye fan in a minute.

That's not the case this year though, That's because the Iowa Hawkeyes are bad this year, and especially bad on the offensive side of the ball.

Let's take a look at the 2 games they played this year.

WEEK 1 - South Dakota State at Home

South Dakota State is literally a second tier team from the FCS, Iowa plays in a conference that just signed billions of dollars worth of TV deals. Iowa only wins by a score of 7-3, and that didn't even include a touchdown. Iowa scored their 7 points by the unusual combination of 2 safeties and a field goal.

Fast forward to Week 2.

Week 2 - Iowa State at Home

This is Iowa's biggest rival. The intra-state battle is worth bragging rights for an entire year. Iowa puts up a first quarter touchdown only to get shut out the rest of the way and eventually lose 10-7.

It is apparent that one of the biggest problems with this year's Hawkeye team is a woefully anemic offense.

Who's in charge of that offense? This guy.

That's Brian Ferentz, the Hawkeyes Offensive Coordinator, and son of head coach Kirk Ferentz.

Now having family members on a football coaching staff is definitely not unique, but Brian Ferentz has been the subject of Iowa fan's ire for a while now, and the yells about nepotism have become roars since their failures since week one of the 2022 season.

That has led to people, no one is sure if it is Iowa fans doing this or trolls from other fan bases, asking coaches to do Cameos for a guy named "Brian" to think strongly about leaving the family business.

First was former Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops:

Just next level trolling.

The next message came from inside the house, Iowa basketball head coach Fran McCaffery.

This is what the internet was created for. Harmless trolling that pokes fun at people making an exorbitant amount of money coaching college football. You don't have to feel sorry for anyone involved in this story, they're all going to lay their heads on very comfortable pillows at night. Just enjoy the ride.
