An Illinois police department's Facebook post leading up to the Super Bowl received a strong reaction from those questioning the condition of local jail cells.

Taylorville Police Department's Viral Facebook Posts

Taylorville sits a short drive southeast of Springfield and has a population of just over 10,000. The city's police department is among several around Illinois that have adopted a somewhat playful approach to communicating with residents on social media.

The Taylorville Police Department's official Facebook page often uses one-liners, pop culture references and unserious photos to remind residents of laws and safety tips. A recent post, for example, used a screen grab of Beyonce's surprised reaction to winning a Grammy to deliver a message about uninsured driving.

That's likely one of the reasons it wasn't a total surprise the department had a post locked and loaded for this past Sunday's Super Bowl.

"Super Bowl Sunday special accommodations are available at the Taylorville Police Department today," the post read. "Does not include TV, Kendrick Lamar music, Taylor Swift sightings, Chiefs or Eagles apparel, or Buffalo chicken dip."

Facebook Followers Have Strong Reaction To Department's Jail Photo

The photo included with Taylorville Police Department's now-viral Facebook post shows a jail cell comprised of a sink, toilet and a concrete slab bed just inches off the floor.

Seeing the cell elicited a rather strong reaction from those in the comments.

"I realize it is a jail, but I don't think we need to put people on the floor to sleep," Sherri Boner wrote. "And disabled/elderly can't get back up. Remember, in jail, you have not been found guilty yet."

Another commenter called out the police department for the post.

"You guys legit have to be the biggest joke of a police department."

There were some, however, that found humor in Taylorville Police Department's photo and message.

"I might actually prefer that over watching this game," Aaron Miller commented, referencing the Philadelphia Eagles' 40-22 blowout win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
