Hot Cheeto Burger At Illinois Taco Shop Creates Line Around The Block, Looks Worth It
The owners of Prime Taco might have to take the word authentic Mexican from their Facebook bio, but these burgers look very much worth the trade off.
This is a TikTok find for me. I won't embed the TikTok, mostly because I can't find it, but I found them on the Facebook, and I think I need to include this spot on my next trip to Chicago.
It sounds like Prime Taco has been around for about 2 years. They started by just making tacos in people's backyards and through hard work and word of mouth, their business really started to take off. Then they introduced the Hot Cheeto Burger, and things changed.
This video is from ABC7 in Chicago and is from earlier this year. I missed it on the first news cycle. Maybe another one is starting soon.
These guys look great. Just dudes making mom proud by serving up excellent tacos and flamin hot Cheeto based foods. It's the American dream.
I'm not 100% sure how the whole restaurant works exactly. They don't have a proper website, so you kind of have to piece together things from their Facebook page.
(EDIT: It turns out they DO have a website, but it doesn't really clear anything up.)
It appears that there is a food truck that you have to follow their social media to find out where they'll pop up next. I don't see anything on any of the Facebook or Instagram feeds that say where they'll be next.
There is an online ordering website that lists an address of 1314 W. 18th in Pilsen, but then also says that online ordering isn't available. Not sure if that was just in the evening or all the time.
The mystery of this place is definitely piquing its intrigue. Anyone with extra information is much appreciated. I look forward to this hunt.
