Goodwill’s tax sites offer free tax preparation and filing to individuals and families with income less than $56,000.

Goodwill of Northern Illinois is operating its free income tax preparation and filing sites beginning January 27th, but their phones are open for taking appointments right now at (815) 987-6200.

Goodwill’s IRS certified volunteer tax preparers will also assist community members in claiming any special credits and deductions for which they may be eligible. Last year, Goodwill’s tax sites served 3,360 individuals which saved participants over $590,000 in tax preparation fees.

Here are the locations for Goodwill’s free tax sites:

  • Rockford Goodwill Mission Services Center: 850 N. Church Street, Rockford, Monday thru Saturday from 9 a.m to 5 p.m
  • Rock Valley College: Woodward Technology Center, 3301 N. Mulford Rd., Rockford, Thursdays from 4 p.m to 8 p.m
  • DeKalb Goodwill Resource Room: 1037 S. Annie Glidden Road, DeKalb, Mondays and Tuesdays from 2 p.m to 6 p.m
  • Beloit Public Library: 605 Eclipse Blvd., Beloit, Select Fridays from 10 a.m to 3:30 p.m (call for information)

Goodwill is also offering Federal and State tax filing online through the My Free Taxes Program. To complete your own taxes online, free of charge, you can go to http://www.unitedway.org/myfreetaxes.
