The name of a woman who was killed in a tragic accident on Illinois 2 has been revealed, as the investigation into the cause of the crash continues.

A Tragic Turn of Events on Illinois Route 2

According to a press release from the Winnebago County Coroners Office, around 7:30 pm on the evening of October 11, the driver of a vehicle traveling northbound on Illinois 2 lost control north of Wagon Wheel Road in Rockton, causing it to flip over.

When emergency crews arrived on the scene, they discovered a female passenger in the vehicle who was unresponsive. Despite efforts, she was determined to be beyond resuscitation, according to the press release.

The Aftermath and Investigation

The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene at 9:55 pm, and at 10:34 pm, the victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to the Coroner’s office, the woman killed in the crash has been identified as 72-year-old Faith Moore of Rockton, Illinois.

An autopsy revealed that Moore died from blunt trauma to the head caused by the crash.

The Winnebago Country Coroner’s Office, Rockton Police, and the Winnebago County Major Crash Assistance Team continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
