The 4th of July is a Sunday this year, and since a lot of businesses are using Monday, July 5 as their holiday, I think it's safe to say many people will be hitting the road for a long weekend away.

Traveling on holiday weekends usually means paying more at the gas pump, (which can really put a damper on the fun), but that may not be the case this Independence Day weekend.

Do you want the good news, or the bad news first?

Let's start with the bad...

Although we are still a few weeks out, experts are predicting gas prices will NOT decline in time for the 4th of July...but...(here comes the good news), they WON'T go up too much either.

According to wrex.com;

Our current gas prices likely won't change much by July 4, but remain stubbornly high, barring any major curveballs to supply and demand," Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy, said.

So...gas prices will still be a hit to our wallet this summer, but at least we won't have to take out a second mortgage to be able to take a road trip at some point.

Traveling this summer may also require a bit of research before you hit the road, and I'm not just talking about finding the cheapest gas prices. No matter where you go, make sure you are aware of the current COVID-19 restrictions/protocols for each state or county you will be visiting. Nothing will ruin a trip faster than arriving at your destination and finding out you can't do what you planned on doing or seeing what you wanted to see.
