Even in a pandemic shortened basketball season, there are great examples of true sportsmanship.

Not like I didn't think there wouldn't be.

Especially considering one of the members of the Dixon High School basketball team is my niece.

Not that I'm bragging it's just not shocking to me when I hear that they did something this cool.

Sam Ramirez on Facebook:

Cool moment tonight here at Dixon High School!!
Stillman Valley’s Georgia Ballard who was injured before the season started was 6 points shy of 1,000 career points.
This is what high school sports is all about!

There isn't a higher degree of sportsmanship than allowing an injured opponent to score the first three baskets of the game just to hit a major milestone.

Not knowing the degree of Ballard's injury, and keeping in consideration the length of the season, there may have been little chance for her to reach the 1,000 points goal at any other time this year.

People commenting on the video said it's 'awesome' and 'a goosebumps kind of story,' and that the Dixon girls basketball team is a 'class act.'

Not that I'm biased or anything, but I kind of expected that 'class act' part.

Congrats to Georgia Ballard, and the Dixon High School girls basketball team.
