Death At Winnebago County Jail Under Investigation
Officials are investigating the death of an inmate in the Winnebago County jail following what police are calling a suicide attempt.
According to a press release, corrections officers found a male inmate unresponsive just before 8 p.m. on Saturday. Officers rendered medical aid and called Rockford Fire Department for medical assistance. The man was transported to the hospital where he later died.
Sheriff's department detectives are investigating this death. The inmate's identity has not yet been released.
