Could Delivery Drones Become As Common As Mail Trucks?
If you're Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, the answer to that question is, "yes!"
Bezos says the technology is ready for drone delivery of Amazon products, but it's the regulatory side that's lagging behind. He tells the Telegraph that Prime Air is being worked on in a number of research centers:
“One day Prime Air deliveries will be as common as seeing a mail truck,” says Bezos. “The technical problems are very straight ahead. The biggest issue, or the biggest thing that needs to be worked on, is the regulatory side.”
There's no indication about where Prime Air might first launch, but Bezos hinted in the interview that the UK has been easier to work with than the U.S. in trying to get things off the ground.
