Can You Guess What Illinois’ Most Hated Halloween Candy Is?
I don't know how credible a study really is when it also concludes that the favorite candy of Illinois residents is...wait for it...Tootsie Rolls.
I'm willing to bet if I stopped 100 people on the street I would probably be arrested because people hate being stopped on a street. But if I did, and I didn't get arrested, those 100 people would not claim Tootsie Rolls as their favorite Halloween candy.
A Website's Run-Down Of The Most Loved/Hated Halloween Candy Has Some Hits And Misses
Byte.com, in their piece on the most popular Halloween candy by state, says that candy corn is hated by 34 percent of us, loved by 22 percent, and a whopping 44 percent say they "don't care about candy corn."
Obviously, the 44 percent who say they don't care about it are lying. They hate it too, but are just too nice to say so. The 22 percent who love candy corn should be treated to some free psychological counseling, because they're obviously crying for help.
Some Candies On The List Were Only Liked By One State Each
Illinois is the only state in the study that chooses Tootsie Rolls, while Nebraska is a fan of Skittles, North Carolina goes for Milk Duds, Alaska loves 3 Musketeers, and Indiana craves Butterfingers. I would take any of those over Tootsie Rolls, and definitely over candy corn.
As a public service, here's a graphic with instructions on how to best enjoy candy corn:
What Other Candies Make The "Most Hated" List?
The candies that get left behind in trick-or-treat bags the most, according to Byte.com:
- Candy corn
- Hot Tamales
- Dots
- Carmel Apple Suckers (gross candy, great band name)
- Mike And Ike
I would like to add in Circus Peanuts, and those little orange and black paper wrapped peanut butter lumps.
