DIXON, Ill. (AP) — Federal authorities say they're not giving up the hunt for assets to seize as restitution for the theft of more than $53 million by the former comptroller of a small Illinois town.

Rita Crundwell is serving a nearly 20-year sentence in federal prison for stealing from the city of Dixon over two decades while she was its sole bookkeeper.

Jason Wojdylo is chief inspector of asset forfeiture with the U.S. Marshals Service. The (Dixon) Telegraph reports he doubts Crundwell will ever be able to pay the millions she owes in restitution and forfeiture.

But he says authorities will "pursue her assets until her debts are satisfied."

Items already seized and auctioned have included horses, luxury vehicles and trophies.

Crundwell was a horse breeder and used the stolen funds to support that operation.
