In the March edition of ‘Ask the Mayor,’ Larry Morrissey provided a detailed update on where the proposed Amtrak service to Rockford stands.

The Mayor told Michael Koolidge that Amtrak representatives don't make the final call on this matter, that it's the call of the General Assembly. He said to keep in mind the improvements for the tracks in the area also are for commuter and freight service as well. Morrissey says he believes Rockford has good partners in Springfield and that he's heard Governor Rauner say directly he supports rail investment.
