• Rockford Police continue to investigate a quadruple homicide that took place over the weekend. Officials say they are looking to interview multiple persons of interest. Anyone with information is urged to contact Rockford Police.
  • Stateline area authorities have gathered at the Illinois State Police District 16 headquarters to commend the efforts of officers in the capture of fugitive Terrance Doddy. State representatives from Machesney Park and Freeport were on hand. Multiple law enforcement agencies worked together which led to a high speed chase to catch the suspect.
  • Illinois health officials have posted emergency rules governing how kids will be treated under the state's medical marijuana law. Children with certain medical conditions will be able to use non-smokable forms of marijuana only if two doctors sign off. The new rules will be in effect for 150 days. The medical marijuana law takes effect January 1st.
  • Lawmakers may once again consider merging the Illinois comptroller and treasurer's offices. The idea has been beaten back for decades in Springfield but is getting new attention following the death this month of Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka. The comptroller is in charge of writing state checks. The treasurer invests state funds.
  • A northern Illinois community has been recognized for blending historic preservation and tourism. The federal Advisory Council on Historic Preservation announced Monday that Woodstock has been named a Preserve America Community. The Woodstock Square Historic District is home to the Woodstock Opera House, built in 1899, and the 1857 Old McHenry Courthouse.
  • The University of Illinois is getting a grant to catalog a collection of rare Italian books that it's had for more than nine decades. The university says its Rare Book & Manuscript Library will use the nearly $500,000 grant to catalog a collection of more than 20,000 Italian imprints from the 16th through 19th centuries. The library bought the collection in 1921.
  • The Rockford employment picture continued to show slow growth in November according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security. The metropolitan area added 1,100 jobs over the past 12 months, which is  just under 100 jobs per month. Additionally, the same report also shows Peoria area has lost 1,200 jobs and the Bloomington Normal area has lost 1,000.
  • Loves Park Police say a woman who was driving drunk caused an accident last night and left the scene.  The three car accident happened at Riverside and Mulford Road.  Before officers arrived on scene, the drive, 46 year-old Cathryn Truss, got out of her car and walked away. Police eventually found her hiding behind a nearby business.  Truss is charged with drunk driving and leaving the scene of an accident, among other charges.
