•  The Illinois Secretary of State's Office owes $40,000 in unpaid rent to a Belvidere landlord for office space. Officials say starting in 2009, rent payments from the secretary of state's office started to arrive sporadically as state revenue lagged. No payments have been received since June of 2013.
  • Illinois Governor-elect Bruce Rauner says he's already meeting with every member of the General Assembly. The Republican who won last week has been putting a transition team of dozens of advisers in place. He has already told lawmakers not to tackle "major" issues before he's sworn into office in January.
  • Winnebago County authorities have identified two Rockford residents who lost their lives over the weekend. Officials say 40-year-old Anthony Singleton and 38-year old Angela Singleton died yesterday as a result of gun shot wounds. Police say they're not looking for a suspect and have not labeled the incident a murder-suicide.
  • Two women are in critical condition after a car accident yesterday in DeKalb. 28 year-old Jeanette Maldonado and 31 year-old Jessica Garcia were passengers inside a vehicle that veered off the roadway on Annie Glidden road. Officials say the driver of that vehicle, 25 year-old Kevin Jones, fell asleep behind the wheel, but was released at the scene. The car ended up in a ditch smashing into several trees.
  • Oak Brook-based McDonald's says that a key global sales figure slipped 0.5 percent in October. The world's biggest hamburger chain says the decline in global sales at locations open at least 13 months included a one percent drop in the U.S.
  • Gas prices will be taking a pre-holiday dip in the Stateline area. According to GasBuddy.com, prices are now averaging at $2.98 per gallon. Overall gas prices have dropped 25 cents in the last month, however decreases are not expected to continue. Gas prices are projected to remain at these levels until after the New Year.
  • A Rockford  teen has been taken into police custody for allegedly striking a woman with his car and leaving the scene last month. The 17 year-old suspect was driving on Riverside Boulevard when he collided with another car.  The 25 year-old woman driver of the other car that was struck got out and approached his car when she was run over.  The teen was charged with aggravated battery.
  • The Illinois State Police has teamed up with the Department of Natural Resources for an annual Open Range Program this upcoming weekend. All hunters and observers can visit a number of State Police ranges. The event is offered to help promote hunting safety. Hunters will have the opportunity to get advice from firearms experts. The event runs on Saturday from 8am until 4pm.
