• A suspect who ran from police is in surgery after being shot three times. The incident happened in Rockford after police pulled over a suspicious SUV on Westmoreland Avenue. Two men fled from the scene with an officer eventually shooting 21-year-old Anthony Dominguez three times after the suspect opened fire. He is currently at the hospital and is expected to survive. The other man, 23-year-old Matt Lawrence remains at large. He is considered to be armed and dangerous.
  • One man has died in Rock County after a rollover accident. It happened early this morning on W South 81 near S Olson Road. Investigators have yet to release the 28-year-old Beloit native’s name. Initial reports suggest the victim was ejected from his truck after he crossed the center line and went into a ditch. Wet road conditions are believed to be a contributing factor in the crash.
  • Two Rockford residents are recovering after a suspect entered their home and shot them. It happened late Wednesday night in the 1100 block of Crosby Street. Police say a man broke into the home of a 21-year-old man and 19-year-old women. He then shot both of them in the leg. The victims were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect remains at large.
  • A 2-year-old northern Illinois boy has died. Authorities say Mohamed Qattum of Montgomery, IL fell into a retention pond on Monday after he walked away from his family. He died Wednesday at a hospital in Chicago.
  • A mobile home operator has dumped thousands of gallons of raw sewage near Cortland Cemetery. An injunction is being sought out against the Zeman Cortland mobile home park. The Illinois EPA wants them to stop dumping raw sewage, with most of it occurring by the cemetery. They say several violations of pollution control regulations have also been found.
  • Illinois’ U.S. Senators Dick Durbin and Mark Kirk have asked for a meeting with BP.  This comes after oil from the company’s northwest Indiana refinery spilled into Lake Michigan. The purpose of the meeting is to see if there are any potential public health and environmental threats to surrounding communities. The EPA says the spill isn’t expected to affect municipal water supplies that draw on the lake. It happened Monday at BP’s Whiting, IN refinery.
  • The Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois are sending nearly 28,000 boxes of cookies to U.S. military personnel overseas. The Girl Scouts are partnering with Joliet-based Operation Care Package to send the cookies abroad. This year's donation, which amounts to nearly 600,000 cookies, is the largest ever by the northern Illinois Girl Scout council.
