• Polls opened at 6am today with voters casting ballots in the governor's race that pits Democratic incumbent Pat Quinn against Republican businessman Bruce Rauner. Voting sites are open until 7 p.m. tonight. Elections officials in Illinois haven't reported any major problems as voters continue to filter through the polls. A polling place in the Chicago suburb of La Grange opened late and could be allowed to stay open past the normal closing time. Live coverage of Election results start tonight at 7pm on WROK.
  • Classes have resumed at East High School after it was determined that a heat sensor triggered a fire alarm. Students and staff evacuated the building, and no fire was found. Staff is currently on site to fix the problem and reset the heat detection equipment.
  • Two people are in custody after a police raid this morning in Rockford. 41-year-old Latasha Holliman and 25-year-old Duana Johnson were taken into custody in the 1200 block of 20th Avenue. Police executed a search warrant for narcotics and found cocaine, a gun, and items used to package narcotics for sale.  Holliman faces armed violence among other charges. Additionally, Johnson had an outstanding warrant.
  • Today is a big day for the Illinois lottery. The Mega Millions jackpot is now $324 million, the 8th largest prize in game's history.  The grand prize rolled over after no one won during the weekend drawing. A lump sum payout will be good for $194 million.  The Mega Millions drawing is tonight at 10pm.
  • A shooting in Beloit has sent two men to the hospital. Police responded to the 900 block of Bluff Street yesterday afternoon. Responding officers found the two victims there with non-life threatening injuries. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
  • Besides candidates for office, Illinois voters are considering several ballot questions. Among them is a non-binding referendum on raising the state's minimum wage from $8.25 an hour to $10 by 2015. There also is a binding question on a Constitutional Amendment regarding victims’ rights in Illinois. Live Coverage and results start tonight at 7pm only on WROK.
  • A Stateline area woman has been sentenced to 15 years behind bars. The Winnebago County State's Attorney has announced that 32-year-old Crystal Caldwell pled guilty to conspiracy to commit first degree murder in connection with the death of James Schoenherr.
