Starting next year, one Illinois county will not sell tobacco to anyone under the age of 21.

NBC 5 is reporting that Lake County will be the first county in Illinois that will change the legal age to buy tobacco from 18 to 21.

The Lake County Board passed the ordinance change on Tuesday with an almost unanimous vote.

The law will go into effect January 1, 2018 and will include more than just regular cigarettes. You will have to be 21 years old to buy any tobacco product, including e-cigarettes.

Do you think this change should come to Rockford?
