The U.S. Postal Inspection service caught one of their ow, in the midst of stealing, with a booby-trapped envelope.

Ebony Smith of Wisconsin's Washington Highlands was caught with over 6000 greeting card envelops, gift cards, checks and cash. According to newsweek.com, Smith's Honda Odyssey was towed to a scrapyard in Milwaukee and inside is where the stolen items were found. But it was a sting operation in January of 2019 that gave officials the information motion they were looking for.

Investigators found a blue envelope they had planted that contained a $20 bill. The envelope also contained a transmitter that triggered them when she opened the envelope. When they approached Smith while on her route. In addition to the planted envelope, officials also found another bag containing 31 greeting cards and close to the front seat of her car were another 23 cards.

What's not known at this time is; for how long has Ebony Smith been running this scam and what her sentencing will be. Smith did admit that her scheme was netting her between $50-$100 a week.
